Thesis:
The Boston Smallpox Epidemic of 1721 lead to the first major pro-inoculation campaign in America, setting the stage for the Smallpox Vaccine to become prominent.
Smallpox is typically characterized by pustules that form all over the body. Until around 1796, the inoculation was the only valid form of protection.
Inoculation: the inserting of pustule matter of a Smallpox patient into an incision of a healthy person's arm with the intent of building an immunity. In the picture, Doctor Edward Jenner is inoculating James Phipp, a local boy.
